The world was eclipsed in a shroud of darkness when the light of Islam shone with the birth of the leader of the world, Muhammad (P.B.U.H.). This was the situation of the world before the Birth of the Prophet (P.B.U.H.).

In the Arabian Peninsula, the darkness of polytheism covered everything ever since Amr Ibn Luhayy introduced Polytheism the worship of idols. They would stand infront of their Gods and seek relief from them during hardships, they would call to them for the fulfilment of a need, like wise they would slaughter for the sake of their idols and make pilgrimage to honour them. In-fact the Qur’an has described their condition: “And they worship ither than Allah, that which does not benefit them, , and they say, theses are our intercedes to Allah.”
Likewise, the soothsayers and fortune tellers were the guides and mentors of the people, directing them about their present and future decisions.

As regarding outside the Arabian Peninsula, the situation was hardly better if not worse. The Zoroastrian faith which had been adopted by the Persian emperors, according to their philosophy, it was preferred for a man to get married to his mother or sister or daughter, even Yazdajurd the second, himself who ruled during the fith century, marries his daughter.
Imam shahastani said that the Mizdakiyah sect would share their women just like they would share their water.  To cap it all off, the fire was the focus of their worship and their God.
The Romans likewise fared no better in terms of their moral and intellectual corruption.

In-fact, the entire world lived in this intense darkness until the birth of Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), the Son of Abdullah, the son of Abdul Mutallib, the son of Hashim, the son of Abdi Manaf, the son of Qusay Ibn Kilab, the son of Murrah, the son of K’ab, the son of Lu’ayy, the son of Ghalib, the son of Fihr, the son of Malik, the son of Nadr, the son of Kinanah, all the way to Ismael the son of Abraham (AS)./

The lineage of the Prophet ((P.B.U.H.)) was noble and pure; the Prophet himself spoke of his lineage: “Indeed Allah chose Kinanah from the children of Ishmael, and chose Quraish from Kinanah, and chose Hashim from Quraysh and chose me from Hashim.”
His birth was in itself a sign that was remembered by history. In the year in which he was born, Abraha AL Ashram tried to demolish the Ka’abah with elephants, as is mentioned in the Qur,an: “Don’t you see how Allah dealt with the people of the elephant. Did he not make them plans come to naught. And he sent against them the Ababeel birds. They pelted them (the army) with stones of cindering clay. Thus he left the army like chewed cud.”

In this year, when Allah humiliated the enemey of the Ka’abah, the blessed Prophet was born as an orphan, whose father Abdullah had passed away while his mother was two months pregnant, thus his grandfather Abdul Muttalib was charged over his affairs. No sooner had the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) reached six years, then his mother Aminah Bint Wahb passed away, then at eight years his grandfather passed away while he was eight years old and he was taken charge of by his uncle Abu Talib.
Thus, the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) grew up as an orphan without father, mother nor grandfather, and he was left in the protection and keep of Allah. Never was he left alone, not even for a day.
“By the day break, and the night as it shrouds, your Lord never left you alone or forsook you. And the hereafter is better for you than this life. And Allah will give to you and you will be pleased. Did he not find you as an orphan and then provided you with shelter, and found you wandering and guided you,  nd found you poor then provided for you. As for the orphan, do not be overbearing, and the beggar don’t be harsh with him, and speak of the blessing of your Lord.”
This orphan was born under the shade of his lord’s protection, and soon the qualities ans signs of prophet- hood were distinguishing traits in his character. He began his early career as a shepherd, in-fact he his recorded as having said, “there is no prophet, except that they have worked as shepherds, his companions resplied, and what about you oh messenger of Allah, he responded, and even myself.”

From an early age, he was known for his wisdom and sound judgement, thus when the argument erupted about who will put the black stone in the corner of the ka’abah after it was rebuilt due to severe flooding, and each tribe was about to go to war on who will have this honour, they finally agreed on the Prophet’s decision saying, “this is the trustworthy, we are pleased with his decision.’ Thus he spread out his cloak, put the black stone in the middle and asked each tribe to grab a corner of the cloth; he then personally put the stone in its proper place.

This is just a mere glimpse of the glorious life of the greatest man to have walked the earth.
