Seminar held at ICC on Islamic Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque

In cooperation with Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland, the Palestinian Rights Institute organised a seminar on Islamic Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In this very informative full day seminar held on Saturday 21st April 2012, the speaker Dr Khalid El-Awaisi, a specialist in Al-Aqsa Studies, delivered a full day seminar at the ICCI. To an audience passionate to learn about Al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa mosque.

Dr El-Awaisi, talked about the history of Al-Aqsa and its status and importance in Islam, together with Prophet Mohammad's (pbuh) strategy and attempts to conquer it in early years of Islam.

He also talked about the how the second guided caliph conquered Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa mosque and how Salahaddin Al-Ayubi liberated it from the crusaders and conquered it for the second time in a famous battle of Al-Hittin.

The speaker also addressed the current situation of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa mosque under Israeli occupation and their attempts to destroy it, as well as talking about Muslims' responsibilities towards the mosque and the city nowadays.

It is worth mentioning that the audience was extremely impressed by the information and the format of the seminar in which everyone was given the opportunity to give their input into the discussions which enriched the event even further.
