Guidelines for Visiting the ICCI and Guided Tours
- The Group Leader / RE Teacher must first make contact with the Centre via: website form, email: [email protected], or phone : 01-2080000
- You will be contacted by a tour guide to discuss the tour and to ensure that the tour is tailored to match the requirements of the group/class (to cover what they are studying if needed).
- It is paramount that the number of pupils/group members is recorded to ensure appropriate arrangements are made to meet expectations.
- The tour guide will discuss what activities (if any) will be done with the group/class and what resources will be available for the attendees.
- Teachers/Group leaders are welcome to make a preliminary visit to further discuss the needs of their students/group members, and to view the facilities.
- Schools must ensure that sufficient supervisors accompany the class, to maintain order and safety measures.
- Groups/classes will be accommodated in large spacious rooms/areas for comfort.
- Students & groups are requested to adhere to the modest dress code that is required when visiting the mosque:
- All clothing should cover the body to below the knee
- No sleeveless garments to be worn by either male or female guests
- No revealing clothing or transparent clothing
- It is also requested that all visitors remove their shoes upon entry to the mosque (please note : this is when entering the prayer area and not the Centre)
- The ICCI does not request female visitors to wear a headscarf, however if they choose to do so it is highly appreciated and viewed as a great sign of respect from our visitors.
- Muslims pray five times a day, so if you prefer to be present at the time of prayer in order to view the congregational prayer, you must mention this when booking the tour.
- All visitors are requested to maintain a respectful level of noise, and maintain silence during the prayer time.
- Also note, Muslims will not engage in conversation during prayer, and they will not respond to any greeting until they have finished prayer.
- Please do not walk directly in front of a person praying in the mosque.
- If you wish to meet with the Imam of the Mosque during your visit, please highlight this when you are making the initial booking.
- The tour includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- An introduction to the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland, covering its history, roles, services, and facilities
- A presentation on the core tenets of the Muslim faith, including an overview of the Pillars of Islam.
- A Q&A session where students and teachers will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed answers.
