Distinguished Professor Jamal Badawi delivers khutbah at the ICCI

Distinguished Sheikh Jamal Badawi Ph.D, Professor Emeritus of Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada was welcomed by senior members of staff of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland upon his arrival in Dublin this morning.

Following his arrival, he delivered Friday khutbah in Arabic and English in which he discussed the issue of falah (success). Prof. Badawi referred to 40 verses in the Glorious Quran which mention success and described in detail 17 verses which explain the issue of success, its advantages and disadvantages. Prof. Badawi also stressed the need to attain and retain the advantages of success in order to be successful Muslims in today’s ever-changing world.

Prof. Badawi (pictured below, left) then discussed his upcoming lectures at the Centre with Sheikh Hussain (pictured below, right) and other senior members of staff.

Professor Badawi will be one of the main speakers tomorrow, Saturday May 3rd, at a full-day course entitled “Muslim/Non-Muslim Relations” which commences at 10.30am in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the ICCI.

The following day, Sunday May 4th, after Asr prayer, Professor Badawi and Dr. Suhaib Hasan will hold an open dialogue with the youth entitled "Building the Muslim Character in the West" (in English) in the Seminar Room.

On Bank Holiday Monday May 5th, Sheikh Badawi will be one of four speakers at the ICCI Women's Annual Conference entitled "Great Muslim Women from History" which begins at 9.30am.

We expect a large crowd at each event so please come early and then learn, participate and enjoy!
