Margaretta D'Arcy, a 79 year old peace activist was imprisoned because of her opposition to the use of Shannon Airport by the US military. On Wednesday 12th March, the Free Margaretta D'Arcy Campaign holds its regular vigil outside Dáil Éireann from 1-1.45pm under the shadow of the possibility of a second Crimean War.

In the first Crimean War over 7,000 Irishmen died fighting for the UK against the Russian Empire. In September 2013, the Red C poll commissioned by the Irish Peace and Neutrality Alliance (PANA) found 78% of respondents rejected Irish support for a war in Syria without a UN mandate.

The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland urges support for the release of Margaretta D'Arcy.
