ME4U Train the Trainer Workshop November 14th/15th
The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland had the pleasure of having Sister Kathleen Roche and her husband Dr Hussein Nagi from the UK based ‘Approachable Parenting’ to run their ME4U (Marriage Education 4 You), Train the Trainer course, in Ireland.
The aims of the training were:
- Participants learnt how to run a ME4U workshop.
- Teach skills to enable participants to explore with participants: values, beliefs and needs in relation to marriage
- Enabling participants to Identify what/who has influenced them to become who they are.
- Develop skills to identify the qualities they require in their future spouse.
- Gaining a better understanding of Mr and Mrs Wrong.
- Better understanding of different personalities and characters.
- Aiding participants on discovering how to form a strong foundation to a happy and successful marriage.
- Explore the cycle of marriage.
- Learn coaching concepts and become confident in practicing them.
- Learning how to recognise when issues may occur and how to apply appropriate problem solving techniques.
- Learn how to manage groups to ensure a suitable environment for learning and how to manage difficult people.
- Understanding and applying Approachable Parenting code and standards.
Participants were also required to prepare a 3 – 5 minute teaching session on one of the following topics to present to their peers:
1. Marriage expectations
2. Communication within marriage
3. Resolving conflict
4. Maintaining a blissful marriage
5. Cultural expectations
6. Living with extended families
7. Dealing with stress
8. Dealing with difficult groups
9. Dealing with financial issues
10. Home management
Those who partook in the training were from different Islamic organisations within Dublin city and outside. They will in the near future be using this training to run workshops for the youth and those who are preparing for marriage.
