On Friday 3rd February 2023, UCD Islamic Society in coordination with the recently established youth organisation “Growing Up Muslim” hosted Ashley Belal Chin (Muslim Belal) on campus. He relayed his inspiring story of how he came to Islam. He premiered his short documentary film titled “Life of an Orphan.” At the end of the evening, there was a surprise message introduced by Muslim Belal, for our Assistant to the Head of the Community Welfare Office and Girls Youth Coordinator, Sister Amilah. She was given the award for her role in serving Muslim Youth in Ireland. It was presented to her by her son Zakariah.
