The community welfare department of the ICCI arranged a workshop facilitated by Mr Egide Dhala of IOM Ireland (International Organization for Migration) on Monday 27th of June. It was a very emotional workshop, which started off with a discussion about people's experiences with working/engaging with migrants, and what they go through in their journey to get here. Discussion moved on to what the definition of a migrant is and how there are many different classifications of migrant. Egide discussed with us the supports offered by IOM and how these supports may differ from other organisations.
Everyone engaged with the discussion, which made it a very fruitful morning. Egide is a wealth of information and experience, which made the time go too quickly. The group would have liked the session to go on for longer!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this event, and to Egide's colleagues who accompanied him, Ms Asma Labidi and Ms Angelica Trindade.
