A pre-Ramadan gathering was organised for the sisters on Monday 20th of March in the seminar room of the ICCI.
Sr Samar Zayed and Sr Suzanne Migdad (Umm Hisham) gave Iman boosting reminders to the women in the run up to Ramadan this week. Many beautiful tips were shared in how to prepare for Ramadan and the women also shared with the group one thing from their list of Ramadan plans which we will share below for anyone else who may like to take some tips and benefit from:
- Pray Taraweeh daily (whether it be in the masjid or at home)
- Read Qur'an before going into the kitchen to cook
- Read Qur'an with the translation
- Learn some dua's in Arabic
- Pray all the sunnah prayers
- Pray Salatul Duha daily
- Make a dua list of people and take three names each day from that list and make dua for those people.
- Pray at least one prayer in the masjid
- Pray more Qiyam
- Take a hadith a day with an explanation and do it with the kids
- Make a box at the beginning of Ramadan and put into it all the intentions for Ramadan, and at the end of Ramadan open the box and see how many of these were accomplished.
- Umrah
- More dua
- Increase giving in sadaqah
- Read Qur'an with a group of sisters to encourage finishing it.
- Focus on understanind Surah Al Fatihah
- Read Qur'an
- Pray Taraweeh in the Masjid
- Focus on Tadabbur (reflecting on the meanings) of the Qur'an
- Increase in Istighfaar (asking Allah's forgiveness)
- Try to learn one ayah a day
- When cooking make one's tongue moist with dhikr
- After prayer, stay sitting and make dhikr and read four pages of Qur'an
Another beautiful idea was presented and that was to have a Qur'an Journal, and throughout the month of Ramadan, as the journey through the Qur'an progresses write in the Journal. So for example: The focus could be on the examples in the Qur'an, so every time you come across an ayah stating: Darab Allahu Mathalan - Allah presents an example.... Write down what these examples are, and reflect on them. Or perhaps choose to focus on the Ayat stating what Allah loves, so every time you come across an ayat stating InnaAllaha yuhibu - Allah loves... write down what Allah loves and reflect on it.
It was a lovely gathering, may Allah reward the sisters for preparing the reminders, those who attended, the little gifts from the MAI and Munch for providing the delicious brunch.
We pray you all have a blessed and productive Ramadan.
