The youth department of the ICCI organised two workshops in partnerhsip with Jigsaw, the youth organisation specialising in mental health for youths.
On February 24th the workshop was held for parents and guardians of youths talking about supporting young people's mental health and the importance of our youths having at least one good adult in their lives who they can turn to in times of need. The learning outcomes of the workshop were as follows:
- Gain an understanding of the key issues impacting on the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
- Understand how to recognise some of the signs that a young person may be struggling with their mental health.
- Lean the value of listening as a way of supporting young people.
- Learn how to promote young people's mental health.
- Increase knowledge of the supports available in their local area.
Can you make a difference? Can you be that one good adult?
Just as we all have dental health, we all have mental health.
On March 10th the workshop was held for youths talking about youth mental health and what helps. The learning outcomes of the workshop were as follows:
- Gain an understanding of mental health.
- Have a greater awareness of what helps and hurts their mental health.
- Become aware of mental health as a resource for living.
- Identify strategies that they can implement to improve and manage their own mental health on a day-to-day basis.
- Learn how and where to get help.
- Become aware of the supports available in their local area.
