The girls youth club took a trip to the much talked about 'Beyond the Trees' in Avondale, Co Wicklow on Saturday 30th of July. The weather had us worried on waking Saturday morning, but Alhamdulillah it cleared up and we had a nice dry day for our trip. The walk started off with a board walk above the trees with information and little obstacle courses along the way in the lead up to the tower. Everyone was amazed with the beauty, SubhanAllah, of the trees and the surroundings. It was a very peaceful place to walk through. At one point the walkway is over 23 metres above the forest floor. The end of the walkway brought us to the tunnel which lead to the base of the viewing tower. The tower spirals 38 metres above the forest floor and once at the top you have a 360 degree view of Wicklow. There are two options to get down from the tower, walking back down or using the giant slide. Unfortunately there was an hour and a half wait for the slide, so we didnt wait around and walked back down the way we came up. The girls visited the gift shop, after which we had our picnic lunch followed by Duhr prayer. We then took a stroll to the walled garden and coffee shop where they bought ice cream and played in the play ground. We stopped off then in the sensory garden to sit and relax, listening to the birds and smelling the herbs, before heading back to the bus for home.
