As part of our 20th anniversary, the Community Welfare Office of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland hosted a high profile intercultural dinner in Clonskeagh, with National Garda Commissioner, Nóirín O’ Sullivan, the keynote speaker. The event also coincided with International Women’s Day, and saw a broad range of community groups represented at the dinner.

Also in attendance were Sgt Dave McInerny from the Garda Racial & Intercultural Office, and Councillors Deirdre Donnelly and Lettie Mc Carthy from
DunLaoghaire/Rathdown.

Commissioner O’ Sullivan spoke about building trust with the Muslim Community which ties in with the ICCI’s slogan for Multicultural Day 2016, Building Bridges Breaking Barriers. Sr Summayah Kenna welcomed Commissioner O'Sullivan, and outlined the excellent relationship the ICCI has developed with An Garda Siochana. A relationship that has been honed over the past 15 years. Sr. Kenna rounded off proceedings by presenting Commissioner O'Sullivan with a plaque on behalf of the ICCI.
