The girls youth club bid farewell to Sr Abiola as the girls youth co-ordinator just before Ramadan. We thank her for all the great work she did with the girls, and wish her all the best with her studies and future endeavers. She has promised us when she has some free time to come back and volunteer. Sr Amilah has taken over this role for now and is putting a volunteer team together so if anyone is interested in volunteering their time with the youth club, please drop her an email at [email protected].
We haven't seen much of the older girls, as they were all busy with their exam prep for summer exams and state exams. So we are hoping over the summer to see more faces and arrange fun summer activities. Many thanks to those who had finished their summer exams. They came and helped to decorate the masjid for the Eid Ul Fitr celebrations with Leila.
The junior youth club on Sundays was buzzing with activities over Ramadan. We have stocked up with more games and arts and crafts materials, so the girls were kept busy with these, bonding with each other over games and showing their artistic talents. Many thanks to the mums who came and facilitated a cupcake/tart decorating session. Those who were not fasting munched on the tasty delights at the end of the session. The older girls who were fasting had some yummy desserts to look forward to for after iftaar. We had a fun drama game session with Sian followed by an Eid party on Sunday 9th of June, and to finish off our Eid celebrations we will be going on a trip to the zoo on Sunday 16th. More on this after the event.
If you are interested in registering your girls for the youth club, you can find the registration forms attached. These can be left in reception for the attention of Amilah.
