For immediate release
We, the Islamic Organisations listed above, condemn the indiscriminate attacks on the Muslims of New Zealand who were executed while offering their Friday prayers in their places of worship, the very places that are regarded as a sanctuary. Those places have been violated by terrorists allegedly under the guise of ‘anti-immigration & white supremacy’; nevertheless Muslims across the world are in mourning today.
We believe that these horrendous and inhumane attacks are against all human and moral values and are crimes against humanity that cannot be justified under any circumstances. Acts such as these should be denounced wherever and whenever they occur.
Terrorism has no welcome place in any society or community, and we condemn terrorism in all its forms and stand in support of all victims and their families, no matter when, no matter where.
We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured and traumatised by these deplorable attacks.
“Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (Qur’an, 5:32)
