The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland calls the Muslim Community not to participate in an anti pegida demonstration.
The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland is aware of the demonstration organized by Pegida, a group that does not represent nor receive support by the people of Ireland.
Based on the foreseen repercussions and in order to diminish the possibility of provocation that may lead to confrontation, which does not serve the common good, a deeply rooted value of our society, nor does it encourage reciprocal respect, a long served goal of Muslim Community and the wider Irish Society, the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland recommends the Muslim Community in Ireland not to participate in the anti-Pegida demonstration that is to take place on Saturday 6th February. We believe that the best way to encounter the emotional demonstration called for by Pegida is "enjoin what is good and turn away from the ignorant". (Holy Quran,7:199)
